White Earth to receive $3 million anti-poverty grant 
Today, Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) announced that the White Earth Band of Chippewa and the city of Minneapolis will receive $3,086,817 and $4,000,000, respectively, in Pathways Out of Poverty Grants authorized by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. These grants will benefit Minnesotans from Minneapolis and St. Paul, as well as Mahnomen, Clearwater, and Becker Counties.

U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson of Minnesota’s 7th Congressional District, who took a lot of heat during a Bemidji town hall hearing in August on his vote for the House climate change bill, is apparently headed to Copenhagen, the site of a world global climate summit. The National Republican Congressional Caucus is also putting out rumors that Peterson, elected in 1990, might not seek re-election in 2010. But the probable response is: “Don’t they wish.”
