Evergreen Gifts and Fun Park sponsored a mini-golf tournament Monday evening, June 20 as a benefit for Kinship, the local mentoring program for kids. The unique fundraiser had 33 teams of three or four persons of all ages play a round of 18 holes at the amusement park north of Park Rapids.

Akeley’s 7th annual Answer to Cancer – Audrey’s Purple Dream – brought “plungers” and fisherfolk out in number Saturday, raising a record $17,500. Funds are used to assist cancer victims, the event honoring the late Audrey Pidde. The mercury was at about 10 degrees, with a blustery wind coming from the north, when the 23 Purple Plungers dove in.

The serving line at Riverside United Methodist Church moved steadily for three hours Thursday. Here volunteer Ann Lindblom took her shift with the gravy ladle. The 29th annual Thank Meal served 200 delivery and take-out meals with 300+ coming to the church for a sit-down feast.
