  • Bobby Tufts reprised his role as king of the bullheads, winning the Akeley Hay Days fishing contest. Weather cooperated for the second annual fall festival. Festivities included a scarecrow contest, karaoke, carnival games, pony rides, a cribbage tournament and a hillbilly horseshoe tourney. (Jean Ruzicka / Enterprise)
  • Future Scarecrows of America took part in the festivities. Scarecrow creators earning the judges’ nod were Em Tufts and Waleya Matson, most original; Akeley Senior Citizens, scariest, and Peggy Geimer, most humorous, her “firefighter” banishing the black birds from the premises. • Vintage vehicles lining Broadway stirred memories for some, admiration from all. (Jean Ruzicka / Enterprise)
  • With scarecrows aplenty, crows were rarely sighted at the event. This fellow, created by Kathy Wicks, was finely dressed for the occasion. (Jean Ruzicka / Enterprise)
