Edward Otto Ruhnke, 100, died Aug. 30, 2010 at Living Springs Assisted Living Home in Post Falls, Idaho.

Edward Otto Ruhnke, 100, died Aug. 30, 2010 at Living Springs Assisted Living Home in Post Falls, Idaho.

Ed was born in Duluth on May 19, 1910 and was called to his Lord and Savior on August 30, 2010. Shortly after his birth the family moved to Park Rapids where he was raised and in 1933 he married Verna Eskola.

In 1940 he moved his family to Southern California where he settled in the City of Orange, attended Immanuel Lutheran Church and became a long time member of IBEW Local 441.

In 1976, his wife, Verna, died of ALS and he moved to Monroe, Wash. where he lived until 1999. At that time he relocated to the Post Falls/Coeurd’alene, Idaho area and at the time of his death was under the loving care of the staff at Living Springs Assisted Living Home.

He is survived by his sons, Edward W. of Post Falls, Idaho and David of Reedsport, Ore.; daughters, Karen Hall of Atlanta, Ga. and Janet Bruley of California; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of North Idaho 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, ID 83835 or Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church building fund, 13541 W Hwy. 53, Rathdrum, ID 83858.
