Willis Mattison and the monstrous moose head back to camp. The animal weighed more than a ton and died on its back. The hunters couldn’t turn the moose over to get a photo until it had been field dressed and quartered. It took five pack horses two trips to haul all of the moose meat, head and cape eight miles to base camp.
