Jasper's Theater opens Thursday

Park Rapids' own Jasper's Theater (located one mile east of town on Highway 34) will open their 2011 season Thursday, July 14 featuring music, magic and comedy in their own brand of Branson-style family entertainment.

This season will once again feature popular music from every era including gospel, country, music from the '50s, Dixieland and Swing. Performance dates will run through Saturday, Aug. 20.

Performance days and times will include 3 p.m. Thursday matinees and 7 p.m. Saturday performances. Additional Wednesday matinees will be included in August.

Jasper's features four generations of entertainers from one family... and a few of their friends, including emcee/magician Jack Sand, and musicians Harley Sommerfeld and Kent Karch.

The show is led and directed by Kathie Brekke (vocals/keyboards). Sidesplitting comedy is provided by the ever-popular Auntie Kreamsaugen (Darlene Rolle). She has made quite a name for herself among snowbirds in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas during the winter.

New this year is a matinee concert series to be offered through September.

n Saturday, Aug. 27 at 3 p.m. a country music concert with Dan Brekke and his Fabulous Fiddlin' will be performed.

n Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 29 and 30 at 3 p.m. the audience will enjoy a comedy and music concert with Auntie Kreamsaugen and yodeler Kerry Christiansen.

n Saturday, Sept. 3, at 3 p.m. the comedy and magic show with  Jack Sand and Auntie Kreamsaugen will entertain.

n Saturday, Sept. 10 at 3 p.m. Sand and Auntie Kreamsaugen will return.

n Saturday, Sept. 17 at 3 p.m. a Big Band and Dixieland concert with the 42nd Street Jazz Band will be performed.

n Saturday, Sept. 24 at 3 p.m. a gospel music concert with Kathie Brekke and the Apostles Blues Band will set toes tapping.
