Alex Meixner and his band, a Florida-based, internationally touring musician, will appear in concert at the Sounds of Spirit Lake at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7. The concert is free, on the shores of Spirit Lake in Menahga, near the public access. Bring a lawn chair. A freewill collection will be taken to apply for matching grant funds for next year’s concert series.
Organizer Ralph Kumpula said the audience is “in for an incredible treat at this, our last concert of the 2015 season.” Meixner, Grammy nominee, is a musical chameleon. He has performed traditional ethnic music since he was four years old and has extensive experiences in a wide variety of musical genres. He plays polka, classical jazz, pop, folk, world music and even some zydeco. This internationally touring musician’s true passion lies in entertaining audiences. In case of rain, the concert will be held in the Menahga School auditorium.
Food and refreshments for purchase will be available on-site, provided by the Menahga United Methodist Church. This concert is funded, in part, by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Five Wings Arts Council thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
