Funky, blue jam grass band performing at 2nd Street Stage
“Hardwood Groove” will entertain Thursday, July 9 as part of the 2nd Street Stage weekly concert series. Celebrate summer Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. with free music, a beer garden and family activities on 2nd Street in downtown Park Rapids. “Hardwood Groove,” rooted in Detroit Lakes, is a group of musicians who draw inspiration from many varieties of music. On stage, bluegrass, blues, folk, rock and funk all meet in one electrified show. Roots-inspired songs are tied together with vocal harmonies and spiced up with a collaborative improvisational aspect. Founding members Dan Thornby and Jake Seelye, started out as a mandolin, guitar and drum folk duo in the fall of 2009. The band has since grown to add Keith Thornby on saxophone, Dustin Ellingson on bass and Ryan Stetson on drums. Organized by the Park Rapids Downtown Association, 2nd Street Stage is held every Thursday through Aug. 20. Bring a comfy chair. Lamb Weston/RDO is sponsoring the July 9 event and will be serving free fries. To see the complete summer line up, go to www.parkrapidsdowntown.com.
