EverGreen Grass Band will play after Water Wars Aug. 7
EverGreen Grass Band will play nontraditional bluegrass music at the next 2nd Street Stage, sponsored by the Park Rapids Downtown Business Association and David Andersen, DDS. The concert Thursday, Aug. 7 will start at 7 p.m. following the Legends and Logging Days Water Wars.
The seeds were sown for EverGreen Grass Band in 2008 and cultivated throughout the fertile musical grounds of Eau Claire, Wis. The six members of the band, including Chicago import Steve Bateman (harmonica), gathered their traditional bluegrass instruments and grew into one of the most sought after nontraditional bluegrass acts on the Northwoods’ musical frontier. Throughout 2010, they spent the festival season barnstorming the Midwest and promoting their first CD, “For Sheriff,” which received critical acclaim in “Volume One”, Eau Claire’s art and entertainment magazine. Shortly thereafter, EverGreen was voted “Best Bluegrass Band” in the publication’s annual reader poll. “For Sheriff” is a first rate production highlighting the songwriting skills of Tim Litscher (guitar, vocals) and Caleb Horne (mandolin, vocals). The 12 selections, all originals, showcase each picker’s breakneck speed and instrumental prowess with Matt Jagow (banjo, vocals), Mike Turner (fiddle), Dan Turner, (bass, vocals) and Bateman rounding out the personnel.
2nd Street Stage continues from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays through Aug. 21 – rain or shine – with free live bands, a beer garden and family activities on 2nd Street between Main Avenue and Highway 71 (at Armory Square if it rains). Please bring your own chair. For more information, go to www.parkrapidsdowntown.com.
