Christmas happenings Dec. 4-8

Friday, Dec. 4

-Park Rapids Community Education will hold its annual Christmas party for children ages 0-5 from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4 at the Frank White Education Center. Children and their parents are invited to this free event to play games, get face paintings, take photos with Santa, play duck the halls game and make and eat Rudolph sandwiches. There will also be opportunities to shop for Little Panther pride wear. Big brothers and sisters can attend and help their younger siblings but they must stay with the family.

-Santa's House will be open from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4 and from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5 at Jackpine Java.

-The second annual Country Christmas concert will be performed by Krista and Eric Norquist Jason Westby and Pete Haas from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Akeley. A potluck supper will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and the concert will follow at 6:45 p.m. A free will offering will be collected to support Sharing and Caring and local Akeley and Nevis families of those whose loved ones are serving away from home during the Christmas season.

Saturday, Dec. 5

-Akeley Methodist Church will have a "Cookie Walk" at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5 at the church. The event will feature many holiday cookies, lefse, rosettes, Krumkaka, Amish friendship breads, almond cakes, sweet bread and candies. Refreshments will be served.

Sunday, Dec. 6

-Northern Lights Chorale will once again bring in the holiday season with "Carols of the Season" at two free concerts Sunday, Dec. 6. The first concert will be at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Sebeka. The second concert will begin at 7 p.m. at First English Lutheran Church in Menahga. Join the chorale in celebrating the advent season. A free will offering will be taken.

Tuesday, Dec. 8

-Nevis Elementary School will present a holiday concert at 1:30 and at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8 at Nevis School.
