Upcoming events Nov. 11-16

Wednesday, Nov. 11

-Menahga School will have a Veterans' Day program at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11 in the gym. The program will feature VFW Post 6206 Color Guard and area Marine Corps, the Menahga High School band, music by third, fourth and fifth graders and junior and senior high school choirs.

-Century School will have a Veterans' Day program at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11 in the Century School Cafetorium. The program will be presented by students in grades 5-8. Park Rapids American Legion Color Guard Ray Vaadeland will also participate. The public is invited to attend this program honoring the veterans.

-The Park Rapids Fastbreak Basketball program is having an informational meeting for parents at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11 in the Century School Cafetorium. Registrations will also be accepted at this time.  Fastbreak is for boys and girls, grades 3-6. Coaches will be at the meeting to answer questions.

-The Park Rapids American Legion will have a 234th birthday party for the United States Marine Corps at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11 at the legion. Everyone is welcome to attend, including all marines, corpsmen, spouses, families and friends. Cake and refreshments will be served while a short program is presented.

Saturday, Nov. 14

-Buena Vista Ski Area will have its annual open house and Ski Patrol fundraiser snow gear sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14. Buena Vista Ski Patrol is a nonprofit organization dedicated to safety and education in skiing and snowboarding. Fifteen percent of each consignment sale goes to the Ski Patrol for training and medical education. Buena Vista is located 12 miles north of Bemidji on County Road 15. Sunday, Nov. 15

-The Bemidji Symphony Orchestra will perform a concert entitled "Triumphant Tchaikovsky" at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15 at the Bemidji High School auditorium. The concert will feature pianist Dr. Stephen Carlson and a piece written by Minnesota composer, Joseph Adams, entitled "Efflorescence." For more information, visit

Monday, Nov. 16

-The Detroit Lakes Christian Women's Club will host the program "A Wing and a Prayer" from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19 at the American Legion Clubroom in Detroit Lakes. Reservations are required by Monday, Nov. 16. For more information, call Norma at 218-846-1977 or Ruth at 218-847-5507.
