Leech Lake Art League to showcase favorites
The Leech Lake Art League will continue its tradition of showing original art at the annual Art Show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, July 30-31 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1 at the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley High School.
For more than 30 years, the league has displayed art that portrays a variety of themes.
This year, guests will be greeted as they enter with a display of the theme "artists' favorite pictures." Door prizes will be given to those who sign up.
The tour through the exhibit will be accompanied by quiet music to add to the ambience. Framed photos, cards, prints, jewelry and books will be for sale by members. Oils, watercolors and pastels will be presented.
This year's featured artist will be Pat Parks who is currently in the process of publishing a book of her latest favorite subject, dragons. There is no limit to the situations and experiences in which her colorful dragons will appear.
More than 500 guests attended last year's show and the league hopes to serve as many this year.
