Professional rodeo joins pro bull ride activities in Park Rapids

Minnesota’s largest rodeo event will take place Thursday, July 2, in Park Rapids.
Gates open at 5 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights for the 37th annual events.
The full rodeo, featuring all seven rodeo events, is Thursday night only. The rodeo includes a bull riding event.
Friday and Saturday nights are PBR bull riding only for world championship points. The rodeo is a PRCA sanctioned event, professional rodeo.
Both events are highly competitive.
Promoter Randy Jokela said he’s been swamped with calls from hundreds of people confused about the events. The rodeo, complete with bull riding, is Thursday night only.
Advanced discount tickets are at Coldwell Banker Clack & Dennis of Park Rapids, the Bullseye Bar and Grill of Verndale, Bemidji Country Greenhouse, Wadena Super One and KDLM radio in Detroit Lakes.
Three huge nightly concerts at the Highway 34 location east of Park Rapids are booked for the log pavilion with MotoX and an ATV aerial show each night during intermission. Three additional concerts are planned for the side stage, one each night, featuring Tyler Steel Thursday, Mitch Gordon and the Unleashed Band Friday and 2 Mile Final Saturday.
Concert tickets are separate from the rodeo, which seats 5,000. The concerts will seat 2,000.
ATV jumping has never been performed at Park Rapids before.
Freebird, a musical tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd, performs on the main stage Thursday night. Josh Thompson, a Nashville recording artist, takes the stage Friday night.
On Saturday, July 4, Keith Anderson takes the main stage.
