Join the Early Childhood staff and children at the Halloween Parade through the Heritage Nursing Home from 9:30-10:15 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 31. Show off costumes while entertaining those who live and work at Heritage. Stay until the end for surprises! There is no charge to join the parade, but you must register by calling 237-6600.

The Park Rapids Rotary Club welcomes trick-or-treaters to treat the Hubbard County Food Shelf this year by dropping off a nonperishable item or making a cash donation Friday, Oct. 31.

Hours will coincide with Trick or Treat Park Rapids from 3-6 p.m. Look for the Rotary Club tent on the second block of Main street where Rotarians will be accepting donations.

Participating downtown businesses invite ghoulish and ghostly kids to “Trick or Treat Park Rapids.” Trick-or-treat along Main street from 3-6 p.m. Visit the Heritage Living Center at the Manor from 6 p.m. until the candy is gone.

BooFest, the annual Halloween celebration at the Headwaters Science Center in Bemidji, will be held from 3-6 p.m. The activity-based, family-oriented event is free. Try carnival games like pumpkin ring toss, make some slime, bob for donuts or win a treat on the witch’s walk. The exhibit floor will be open free of charge during Boofest hours. Don’t forget your costume!

A Children’s Fall Festival featuring games, crafts, treats and health information will be held from 3-6 p.m. at the Sanford Bemidji Medical Center, Education Center, east lobby. Wear your costumes, enjoy light snacks, additional games and a movie.

The Osage Lions and Carsonville Firefighters invite trick-or-treaters to a Halloween Party at the Osage Community Center from 5:30-7:30 p.m. There will be candy galore, games, treat bags for all visitors big and small, and fire safety reminders. Seniors are invited to come and enjoy the kids’ costumes – and dress up to surprise the kids!

A Haunted House, hosted by Park Rapids Cub Scout Pack 58 and Boy Scout Troop, will be held at Hubbard County fairgrounds. Haunting begins at 6 p.m. Admission is $2, with ghouls 5 and under free.

The Nevis Municipal Liquor Store is hosting an adult Halloween Party with drink specials and live music by “The Norquists” and a 10 p.m. costume contest. Bring a cash donation or non-perishable food item to be donated to the Akeley/Nevis and Park Rapids Food Shelves.

The Akeley VFW will hold a Wicked Halloween Costume Party with prizes for Best Dressed Couple and Best Costume Overall, music by “Desperado” from 8 p.m. to midnight, a 6 p.m. meat raffle and drink specials.

Long Lake Theater presents a Halloween-themed “Voice of the Prairie ”live radio variety show at 7:30 p.m. The program features old-time radio plays, comedy bits, ads, jingles and music. There will be a contest and pageant for the best-dressed couple. Tickets are $12 per person and available at Beagle Books, 732-0099 or longlaketheater.com.
