Merging old and new contemporary art techniques


Menahga 8th graders created self-portraits by first preparing the paper with color, using monoprint techniques. “They then use the old technology of a VU-Graph machine to project their image and trace off the black shapes that create their portrait,” explained art teacher Dawn Rossbach. “It's a fun project that utilizes very contemporary art-making methods with old, but still useful machines.” Above, Isaac Huotari, Madison Alajoki and Emily Ziegler.
