Kids in grades 4-6 invited to participate in Adventures in Art

The Park Rapids Area Library will present Adventures in Art, an after school program for 4th-6th graders.

The program will consist of four sessions, each led by a local artist. The classes will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays downstairs at the library. Dates, artists and content are listed below.

n Sept. 26, artist Scott Stewart will address how to make graphic novels, comic books, and illustrated stories.

n Artist Marsha Wolff will work with students Oct. 3 to create a mosaic which will be displayed at the library.

n Oct. 10, Robin Cunningham of Smoky Hills Art, complete a beaded bracelet or necklace with Robin Cunningham of Smoky Hills Art, using a colorful assortment of beads.

n Oct. 24, Artist Bickey Bender of Blank Canvas Gallery leads a design project using various art supplies.

Students can sign up for whichever sessions they choose by calling the library at 732-0921.

Space is limited, and pre-registration is required. The local Legacy program is a collaboration of the library, Blank Canvas Gallery, Smoky Hills Art, and guest artists (who all live and work in Park Rapids and the surrounding communities).

"We are fortunate to live among so many talented artists who are willing to share their passion with the young people in our communities," said librarian Jodi Schultz.
