PRLAAC awards first Medici Project scholarship

Jake Jager

The Park Rapids Lakes Area Arts Council (PRLAAC) announces the first recipient of a scholarship from the Medici Project.

Jake Jager of Menahga will receive sponsorship in the form of tuition to continue dance instruction which will culminate in a recital performance.

Jager is a student at the Northland School of Dance in Park Rapids.  He was nominated for a Medici Project scholarship by his dance instructor, Denise Gulbranson.

The nomination states that besides being a very hard working student, "He displays a natural ability to apply his dance techniques with fluidity.  He is always respectful of his peers and is a wonderful example for the other students in the dance program".

The leadership of PRLAAC conceived the Medici Project to recognize and support artistic talent and its growth through significant opportunities for youth in grades K-12. The PRLAAC member organizations believe that the arts are essential to what it means to be human; that they can have a positive influence on youth as they develop.

Funding for the Medici Project has come from the Nancy Tague Memorial Fund, Region 2 Arts Council, and private individuals. PRLAAC is looking for sponsors and patrons. Sponsors will help ensure the success of this project to provide opportunities to our talented youth for years to come.
