For more than a decade, downtown Park Rapids merchants have opened their hearts and doors to children on Halloween, and this year is no exception. Businesses with a sign will welcome trick or treaters from 3 to 6 p.m. Heritage Living Center will add goodies to bags from 5:30 until the candy runs out. The time was originally listed in Saturday's Enterprise as 6:30 but the correct time is 5:30. Last year, more than 1,100 bags of candy per business were distributed. "Downtown businesses are committed to making Halloween a safe and enjoyable experience," Cynthia Jones, Park Rapids Downtown Business Association chair, said of the initiative.
