Independence Day boat parades

Boat parades are a highlight of many 4th of July celebrations this weekend.

Two Inlets

Two Inlets Lake 4th of July parade will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 3.

The parade will begin and conclude at the public boat launch.

Decorations are encouraged but not required. For safety reasons, only motorized watercraft will be allowed in the parade. The parade is open to all.

Emma, Stocking, Bottle

The Emma, Stocking, Bottle Lakes Association will have a flotilla Monday, July 4 starting at 10 a.m. at the dock of Tom and Martha Moe on the far northern side of Lower Bottle Lake.  

Join in with a decorated boat, pontoon or boat of choice (you can even decorate your dock if you're not able to participate in the flotilla).  

Show flags for our independence and freedom.

Big Mantrap

The fourth annual Big Mantrap boat parade will set sail at 10 a.m. Monday, July 4th from Hoo Doo Bay.

The route will set sail from Hoo Doo through the narrows into the big lake, circle the lake, go back through the narrows into the river and on to the west arm where the parade will finish.

Boats may join the flotilla at any time. Decorations are encouraged but not required. The parade is open to all.

A picnic potluck lunch will be held at the public access when the parade is over. Bring a sandwich, drink and a dish to share.

Potato Lake

Potato Lake will launch a parade of boats at 10 a.m. Monday, July 4th. Meet at the west end sandbar.

Straight Lake, Osage

The Osage Environmental Association's annual 4th of July boat parade will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, July 4 at the head of the narrows on Straight Lake.

The parade is open to members and non-members.

Following the parade, a community picnic will be held at noon at Lions Park.

Brats and beverages will be provided with a donation jar. Bring your own dishes and utensils and a main dish or dessert to share.

Big Sand

The annual 4th of July Big Sand boat parade will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, July 4th. The parade starts at the inlet from Lake Emma (northeast side of the lake).

Decorations are encouraged, and any boat is welcome to join the parade. A boat parade prize drawing will be held at the annual meeting Saturday, July 9

The winner must be present to win.

Fish Hook Lake, River

The Fish Hook Independence Day Flotilla will gather at Gary and Sharon Rezac-Andersen's on the east end of the lake, at 11 a.m. Monday, July 4th.  

Everyone is welcome to join in the fun, decorated or not.  The parade will proceed around the lake and down the river to view the new public dock placed at the Red Bridge Park by the Fish Hook Lake and River Association.      

Long Lake

Independence Day celebrations Monday, July 4 on Long Lake will include a flotilla and dock decoration festivities.

Docks and boats should be decorated by 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. with phone numbers displayed prominently for the judges.  

At 10 a.m. the flotilla departs in two groups from Wooters Point's east side and returns on the west side of the lake across from Wooters Point where boats will disperse.  

The north group leader/ dock judge will lead the boats to the north end of the lake where judging will take place.  The south group leader/dock judge will lead the boats toward the south end of the lake crossing over to the west side prior to the stumps for judging.   

If there is inclement weather (high winds, rain, thunderstorms) at 9 a.m., Monday, July 4, the flotilla and dock decorating festivities will be cancelled.

8th, 9th Crow Wings

The annual 8th and 9th Crow Wing Lakes Association Independence Day boat parade will set sail at 1 p.m. Monday, July 4. 

Participating boats are asked to gather in the southwest bay of the lake in front of In-We-Go resort.  

All residents and guests on the lake are welcome.

Stony Lake

Stony Lake boaters will shout "anchors aweigh!" at 1 p.m. Monday, July 4 to set sail in celebration of Independence Day.

The flotilla departs from the public access.
