Dorset hosting Boardwalk Art Festival this Saturday

Laura Grisamore displayed her photos infused into waterproof, UV-protected metal at last year’s Dorset Boardwalk Art Festival. She returns again this year.

Dorset's annual Boardwalk Art Festival celebrates Minnesotan creativity.

Art enthusiasts are invited to browse an array of regional artists' work from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 25.

The event will entertain all ages with live music, food, book signings, art and children's activities.

Artists in a variety of media will exhibit their works. They include chain saw pieces, wood carvings, textured photography, refurbished furniture, stained glass, mosaics, wind chimes, birdhouses and pottery.

Jill Johnson, who penned "Little Minnesota" and Deane Johnson, author of "The Best of Itasca: A Guide to Minnesota's Oldest State Park," will be signing books in Dorset. Novelist Jim Proebstle will also attend the festival.

Also making appearances are Barbara Schlichting, who wrote a First Lady mystery series, and Robert Kutter, author "The Littlest Loon."

Kid-friendly activities include face painting, Kids Art Camp and minnow racing. More information is available on Dorset's Facebook page: dorset,mn.
