Worker dies in trench collapse near Bemidji
The suspect in two fire-bombing cases was buried Thursday in an industrial accident in which a trench collapsed in Bemidji.
Leon Jenkauski is charged with throwing Molotov cocktails at businesses in Walker and Park Rapids.
Emergency calls were received from Bemidji Iron & Recycling, located along Bemidji Road North, at about 11:12 a.m.
A trench was being dug to repair a water line.
The trench collapsed and trapped the man, according to a press release from the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office.
Emergency workers, including Bemidji firefighters trained in trench rescues, worked to open the trench and rescue the main, but he was found dead.
The accident remains under investigation.
