Women’s Economic Security Act sensible
I’m sure some of you may have had the chance to go out and do some fishing this past weekend, and many of you probably had a chance to celebrate Mother’s Day as well. This year, Mother’s Day had an even bigger statewide significance thanks to the signing of the Women’s Economic Security Act (WESA) into law.
Governor Mark Dayton signed WESA into law after months of work at the Legislature this session. WESA helps address the pay gap for female workers by updating outdated workplace policies. Workers deserve to get equal pay for equal work, regardless of gender.
I’m happy to say that this bill received broad bipartisan support in the House. Well over 100 lawmakers from both parties voted to pass it. It’s great to see broad support for this common sense solution. There are many individual provisions that make up the whole bill. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
