The Lions Club event continues to be one of the best run of the one-day, multi-species tournaments in the state. And when you consider it was the original contest of its kind and sees a full or nearly full field in each event, it is quite a feat to keep anglers coming back year after year.

Pre-tournament fishing will be allowed through Monday, May 28. The fishing waters will then be off-limits to those anglers entered in the event until the day of the tournament.

The field will be limited to the first 45 entries received by tournament officials with a 10-place payback and guaranteed first place money of $1,000. Every team must release fish they have in their boat sometime between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. during the tourney. All livewells will be checked for remaining fish during that period. All teams must check in during the time frame - fish or no fish. Any team that does not check in at tournament headquarters during this time frame will be disqualified.

Fishing hours will again be 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Legal fish include walleye, bass and northern with $50 to the individual who catches the largest entered fish of each species caught during the tournament. Point totals will remain the same as in the past, including bonus points.

Boats will be checked for all forms of milfoil and zebra mussels. Contestants will not be allowed to fish if any are present.

The rules and check-in meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, June 1 at the Osage Lions Park or the Osage Community Center, depending on weather conditions. Entry fee is $120 per two-person team.

After weigh-in at 3:30 p.m. is concluded, the awards ceremony will follow at the Lions Park.

Entry forms can be found in area bait shops as well as in Osage businesses.
