Warriors defeat Osakis in dual meet, finish second at Perham Invitational
The United North Central wrestling team won nine matches in a 44-24 dual victory over Osakis Thursday night at Menahga.
Ben Johnson opened with a 12-2 major decision at 106 pounds and Liam Cochran followed with a 3-2 minor decision at 113 as UNC claimed a 7-0 lead.
Osakis won the next two matches to take a 10-7 advantage and Tommy Tellers’ forfeit win at 132 was offset by a pin at 138 as Osakis led 16-13.
The Warriors took control with Wyatt Puttonen’s 6-3 minor decision at 145, forfeit wins by Sam Tellers at 152 and Tyler Eckman at 160, and Dylan Huttunen’s 12-1 major decision at 170.
Tristan Palmer’s forfeit win at 195 and Taylor Carlson’s pin at 220 sealed the win as UNC improved to 4-2 in dual meets.

Warriors finish second at tourney
Carlson claimed the title at 220 and UNC used seven runner-up finishes to earn runner-up honors at Saturday’s Perham Invitational.
Perham won the team title with 228 points while UNC followed with 178 points. New London-Spicer was third with 176 points while New York Mills (145.50), Mille Lacs (97) and Walker-Hackensack-Akeley/Nevis (77) rounded out the six-team field.
Carlson pinned his way to the title at 220 while Johnson (at 106), Tom Tellers (at 132), Logan Walz (at 138), Sam Tellers (at 152), Huttunen (at 170), Tanner Bacon (at 182) and Palmer (at 195) finished second.
Also placing for the Warriors were Austin Bacon (third at 120), Toby Hintzman (fourth at 126), Puttonen (fourth at 145), Eckman (sixth at 160) and Landon Oshie (fourth at 285).
Placing for WHAN were Dillon McGee (fifth at 106), Dustin McGee (third at 113), Kyle Schmidt (fifth at 120), Tristan Hopen (sixth at 132), Ryley Rettke (fourth at 138), Jordan Spenst (sixth at 152), Truman Campbell (fourth at 160), Dakota Zimmer (fifth at 182), Nick Fisher (fourth at 220) and Skylar Hitchcock (third at 285).
