Wadena police respond to eggings, 'Works bombs'
A Wadena police officer investigated a series of eggings of homes, including two so-called "Works bombs," made by putting aluminum foil and Works liquid drain cleaner in a bottle.
On June 15, an officer responded to a call from the 200 block of Madison Avenue Southwest. The residents there reported seeing a fizzy substance after something hit the house.
The officer recognized the device as a Works bomb. The maker will pour the drain cleaner and balled up pieces of aluminum foil into a bottle, which cause a chemical reaction that eventually leads to expansion and explosion of the bottle.
A second Works bomb was discovered in a mailbox on 9th Street Southwest. That home also was egged, as was a neighbor's.
The Wadena Police Department is investigating.
