Virginia man's search for daughter leads him to Detroit Lakes
This past weekend, Aaron Marshall received a surprise -- he may have a daughter he never knew about.
The Virginia man found out via the Internet site zabasearch.com that someone was looking for her daughter's biological father and had contacted him. Only problem was the request was posted Nov. 16, 2006, from someone in Detroit Lakes, but two years later, now posting a response, Marshall has yet to hear back from the original poster.
"I saw that a friend of mine was trying to contact me. We were stationed at George Air Force Base in California, and said that we have a daughter together. I was not aware of it. I had no idea," he said.
The posted message online was "My daughter Erika wants to meet her biological father. He was stationed at George AFB, CA in 1981 and she was born in March 1982. She is half black and is going through an identity crisis. She is an only child. I also have a beautiful 4-year-old granddaughter. Also, a medical history would be nice to have."
The message posted online was for an Aaron Marshall in Pennsylvania, which Marshall said he used as his home state address while he was in the service.
"I was trying to expedite it because they were saying something about something medical, so there may be some medical concerns. I was just trying to find out what's going on," he said.
Marshall said he doesn't have much for leads as to who the person posting is, but he did have a relationship with a Marsha Friken while at the base in California. He said he's tried searching for the mother and Erika, too, but has had no luck.
"I also sent a letter to the police department, trying to get some help. I didn't know what to do. I don't know how to find anyone," he said. "I'm just trying to get in contact with her for more information.
"If it is my daughter, I would like to know. I'd like to get to know her," he added. "I just want to find her."
