Pelican Rapids won the clutch points down the stretch to hand the Park Rapids volleyball team a 25-21, 25-23, 25-18 loss Monday night at the Area High School gym.

The Panthers trailed 8-2 in Set 1 before a tip by Grace Bateman, a block and kill by Megan Grimes, and a kill by Alayna Young closed the gap to 10-6. The Panthers trailed 23-15 before two tips and a kill by Bateman and a kill by Grimes made it 23-21 before Pelican Rapids served out the set.

In Set 2, ace serves by Bateman and Vaudrin gave the Panthers a 7-5 edge. Two more ace serves by Bateman and a kill by Katelyn Hilmanowski helped Park Rapids tie the set at 15-15. A winning spike and tip by Grimes and a kill by Vaudrin kept the Panthers within 24-22 before the Vikings again served out the set.

Two kills by Vaudrin and a kill by Bailee Jerger tied Set 3 at 3-3, but Pelican Rapids went on a 10-5 run to take a 13-8 lead. A pair of kills by Vaudrin, a kill by Bateman and a block by Grimes kept the Panthers within 23-17 before Pelican Rapids served out the match.

The win gave the Vikings a 7-3 record against Section 8AA teams and a 15-5-2 overall record. The Panthers fell to 1-7 against section opponents and 5-15-1 overall.
