The Pregnancy Resource Center in Park Rapids will host a Walk for Life today (Saturday).
Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. at the center located at 200 West 6th St. The two-mile walk starts at 10 a.m.

Heartland Homes' annual turkey and ham fundraising dinner with all the trimmings will be served from 4:30 to 7 p.m. today (Saturday) at the Park Rapids American Legion.
The meal will be prepared by the Park Rapids American Legion Women's Auxiliary.
Park Rapids Classic Chorale will present a spring concert at 3 p.m. today (Saturday) at St. Johns Lutheran Church.
Dr. Paul Dove will be directing "The Peaceable Kingdom" by Randall Thompson.
Anita Hannemann will conduct a variety of songs including "How Lovely is Thy Dwelling Place" by Johannes Brahms and John Rutter's The Lord is my Shepherd.
Gary Stennes will wrap up the concert featuring a variety of music, including classical choral literature, spirituals and other popular arrangements such as the powerful "Prayer of the Children."
Park Rapids Classic Chorale is a community choir serving the north central communities of Park Rapids, Nevis, Menahga, Walker, Osage, and surrounding areas. The purpose of the choir is to provide community access to quality performances through the gifts of local vocalists.
Members have been practicing since the end of January, fine tuning the performance with twice weekly, two-hour practices through April.
St. Johns Lutheran Church is located at 803 W. 1st Street, off Hwy 34 west in Park Rapids.
Chorale members will be serving homemade desserts after the concert. A freewill donation will be collected to help defray the cost of music.
Sunday, May 8
St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 305 West 5th, will host a Mother's Day brunch from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday, May 8.
The menu includes Belgian waffles, ham, coffee and juice. A freewill offering will be received. Proceeds benefit youth summer camp.
Minnesota Folklore Theater, Akeley will hold auditions for "On Golden Pond" from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday, May 8 and 9.
Roles include Norman Thayer, husband of Ethel; Charlie Martin, mailman; Chelsea, daughter of Ethel and Norman, and her stepson, Billy.
Auditions will be held at Minnesota Folklore Theater, located on Broadway (Highway 34) in Akeley.
Performances are Aug. 11-14 and 19-21. Call 652- 2666 for further information.

St. Joseph's Area Health Services foot care clinics will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Mondays by appointment in Park Rapids.

The Hubbard County DFL will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, May 9 at the Lake George Town Hall, an accessible site. Participants will be discussing plans for the ditch cleanup, walleye and wild rice dinner, the fair and other events.
Anyone is welcome to come and take part. If coming from Park Rapids, meet at the Ace Hardware parking lot at 6:30 to carpool to the meeting.

In celebration of National Hospital Week, May 8-14, Sanford Bemidji Medical Center is offering cholesterol screening at a reduced rate from 7 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 10 in the hospital education center.
Testing includes cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL cholesterol, calculated LDL cholesterol, calculated cardiac risk and glucose.
For an accurate triglyceride and calculated LDL don't forget to fast after 6 p.m. Monday, May 9. You may have water and take medications as prescribed.

Terry Wiley, diabetes patient and member of the patient-led education group sanofi-aventis A1C Champions Program, will share his story with St. Joseph's diabetes support group at 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 10 in Essentia Health Park Rapids Lower Level Conference Room A.
The public is invited.
Wiley knows the obstacles of maintaining control of diabetes and will speak on topics including glucose levels, self-management, developing a balanced and healthy lifestyle, prioritizing diabetes management, overcoming fears and finding resources.
The Centers for Disease Control estimate that more than 20 million Americans have diabetes and six million are unaware that they have the disease.
