 Crazy Quilters Guild of Park Rapids will hold its regular business meeting at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10 in the Park Rapids Area Library meeting room.

All area quilters are invited to attend.

St. Joseph's will hold childbirth preparation classes from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursdays, Jan. 10, 17 and 24 in St. Joseph's lower level conference room (follow signs).

The classes are designed for the seventh, eighth and ninth months of pregnancy. Topics include breathing, relaxation, exercise, physical changes, stages of labor, role of labor partner, unexpected outcomes, admission to nursery, after care for mom and baby, infant feeding options, car seat safety and a tour of the obstetrics room.

The Park Rapids Retired Military Group will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10 at the new restaurant, Vallartas Mexican Grill, in Armory Square.

The Wadena Evangelical Church is starting a DivorceCare group, meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays beginning, Jan. 10.

  DivorceCare helps in recovery from the pain of separation and divorce and is led by people who have been through it and understand how you feel.

DivorceCare is a network of over 13,000 churches worldwide equipped to offer divorce support groups. This program is nondenominational and features biblical teaching for recovering from divorce or separation.

The Wadena Whirlaways square dance club will dance from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10 at the Wadena VFW.

The public is invited to celebrate Winter Trails Day with the Laurentian Lakes Chapter of the North Country Trail at Maplelag Resort Saturday, Jan. 12.

Activities include:

n Join a group to cross-country ski or snowshoe at 1 p.m. (meet in the lodge lobby).

n Learn more about wolves and northern Minnesota ecology and environmental issues with environmentalist Barry Babcock at 3:30 p.m.

n Check out the silent auction featuring outdoorsy items and unique local

artisans' products from 1 to 6 p.m.

All proceeds will go toward building, maintaining and promoting the NCT.

The Park Rapids Fire Department will conduct its annual Christmas tree pick up within the city limits beginning at 9 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 13.

Park Rapids Fun & Dance will host a dance from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13 at the American Legion.

The public is invited to dance to "Joe Carlson & Jim."

The fee pays for the band and rent of the facility.

The Center for Lifelong Learning at Central Lakes College in Brainerd will host "Spotlight on Religion: Judaism" with Dr. Robert Kapitzke from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15 in E208 of the Business and Industry Center.

       A graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, Dr. Kapitzke attained a Master's degree in religious studies from the University of Florida, and a Ph.D. in religious studies at Indiana University. He is a former instructor at Central Lakes College and currently teaches religion and philosophy at St. Cloud Technical and Community College.

     The program will address the state and formation of a modern Judaism.

     Admission for the event is free for CLL members and $6 for non-members. For information, call 218-855-8142 or e-mail bberg@clcmn.edu.
