Friday, Dec. 25
-The annual Community Christmas dinner will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 25 at the Park Rapids American Legion. The meal is available to anyone and features turkey, ham, stuffing, yams, salads and more. The meal is free but donations are accepted to offset the cost of the food. A sign up sheet is at the Legion for those who want to reserve a takeout meal. Call 732-5238 for more information. Those wanting to volunteer to help with the meal can call 732-8250.
-The 15th annual live nativity in Wadena will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 25 at the Wadena National Guard Armory. The event will bring together community members, live farm animals, a re-enacted Christmas story with simple costuming and props, service of carols, scriptures and prayers on Christmas morning. Apple cider and Christmas cookies will be served following the one-hour event.
Saturday, Dec. 26
-Buena Vista Ski Area invites the public to celebrate its 60th anniversary from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 26. New Snowboard Terrain Park features will be open in a new location on the east side of the ridge. From 1 to 3 p.m., horse-drawn sleigh rides will be available through the old Buena Vista Village. The Continental Café will be serving up specials with a historic slide show and memorabilia on display. Buena Vista Ski Area is located 12 miles north of Bemidji. Sunday, Dec. 27
-Technical Sergeant Ron E. Wilson, son of Mae Benjamin of Park Rapids, will present the Threads of Love Quilters with an Iraqi flag at the 9 a.m. service on Sunday, Dec. 27 at the Hubbard United Methodist Church. The quilters sent military men and women quilts through the Blue Star Mothers. Wilson wanted to greet the quilters in person while he was home for the Christmas holiday.
Monday, Dec. 28
-Itascatur Ski/Bike/Run club will be hosting two open houses during the holidays to give the public an opportunity to check out the new equipment and be introduced to skiing. The open houses will be from noon to 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28 and Wednesday, Dec. 30.
