On Friday, May 30, conference attendees will be able to interact with several presenters on topics related to the conference theme: The Jefferson Highway in the Land of Lakes & Pines. The Northern Knights Car Club will host a Back to the ’50s and ’60s event Friday evening.
On Saturday, May 31, the conference will hit the road for a motor coach tour of Itasca State Park, with park naturalists showing the 1925 route of the Jefferson Highway in the park and a visit to the headwaters of the Mississippi River.
The conference will conclude with an awards ceremony, walleye and wild rice dinner and music by the Upper Mississippians, ’20s-’30s jazz band.

Menahga 1st Response will have its annual Fish Fry fundraiser from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, May 31 at the Menahga VFW Post 6206. Presale tickets are available from members for a discounted price.
Sunday, June 1
The Mississippi Headwaters Retriever Club will have a free starter dog/handler workshop at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 1 at the club, 10 miles south of Bemidji on Highway 71.
The workshop will help people who have a sporting breed pup or older dog that could use some training. They will work on basic commands, intro to simple retrieves, gun fire, water entries, ducks, basic equipment needs and training methods. For more information call Shirley or Sharon at 218-224-2622.

Park Rapids Chapter
Minnesota Deer Hunters Association will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, June 2 at the Environmental Education Building at the Hubbard County Fairgrounds in Park Rapids.
Chapter FJ of the P.E.O. Sisterhood will hold their June 2 meeting at Beagle Books at 6:30 p.m. with Marsha Smith as hostess and Linda Smith as co-hostess.

Wednesday, June 4
The Sons of Norway will meet Wednesday, June 4 at Calvary Lutheran Church. The board meeting is at 6 p.m. with a business meeting and program at 7 p.m. Dr. William J. Craft, President of Concordia College, Moorhead, will talk about the history of Concordia and how our Scandinavian ancestors founded a school in our “backyard.”

The Northern Light Opera Company invites you to a delightful evening as we launch the summer opera season from 7-10 p.m. Thursday, June 5 at Blueberry Pines Golf Club, 39161 U.S. Highway 71, Menahga.

A Walk for Life for the Pregnancy Resource Center will be Saturday, June 7.
Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. and the walk begins at 11 a.m. at the Pregnancy Resource Center in Park Rapids. It is about a two mile walk.
