U of M coaches to make stop at Blueberry Pines during tour

     Every year, fans from this area trek hundreds of miles to see their favorite University of Minnesota sports teams in action.

     On Tuesday, May 20, Director of Athletics Norwood Teague, a collection of Gophers coaches and Goldy the Gopher will return the favor by visiting U of M fans with a stop at Blueberry Pines during the 2nd annual Gopher Road Trip Chalk Talk.

     Among the coaches expected to make an appearance for a program and complimentary dinner buffet with non-alcoholic beverages at Blueberry Pines starting at 4:30 will be Mike Burns (men’s gymnastics), John Carlson (men’s golf), Jerry Kill (football), Kelly Kramer (swimming and diving), Don Lucia (men’s hockey), Terry Nieszner (women’s swimming and diving), Michele Redman (women’s golf), J Robinson (wrestling), Meg Stephenson (women’s gymnastics) and Marlene Stollings (women’s basketball). The program will also feature prizes and giveaways.

     Registration is free and open to the general public. Pre-register for this event by going online at gopherspots.com and click on the “2014 Gopher Road Trip: Register Now” link. Print out your ticket and bring it with you to the event. You can also pre-register by calling 1-800-846-7437. The program is sponsored the by Headwaters Coffee Crew, 1st National Bank of Menahga & Sebeka, Ackerman Plumbing & Heating, Blueberry Pines Golf Course and Citizens National Bank.

     “We’re the only Division I school in Minnesota and we love that our teams have the privilege of representing the entire state,” said Teague. “We have amazing fans in every corner of Minnesota, but some may not have the opportunity to come see us as often as they would like. Our annual road trip lets us bring the U to them.”
