Two arrested following investigation of outboard motor theft
Hubbard County Sheriff's Deputy Jeff Stacey responded to North Beach Resort, located on the west arm of Potato Lake, Thursday in response to a reported that two 2007 Yamaha 9.9 horsepower outboard motors and one 2004 Honda 9.9 horsepower outboard motor were stolen.
Also reported missing were a Stihl handheld gas leaf blower, a set of black jumper cables with copper tips, a Class "A" receiver hitch, miscellaneous hand tools and 10 gallons of gas that had been in red gas cans.
After further investigation, deputies from the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office and officers from the Park Rapids Police Department executed a search warrant the next day at 16264 County 6 in Park Rapids.
The search warrant resulted in the recovery of one Yamaha 9.9 horsepower four-stroke outboard motor matching the description of one of the reported stolen outboards from North Beach Resort.
Further investigation resulted in the recovery of the other 9.9 horsepower Yamaha four-stroke outboard motor and the 9.9 horsepower Honda four-stroke outboard motor.
Methamphetamine was also located at the residence, according to the sheriff's office.
Taken into custody, pending formal felony receiving or possessing stolen property charges, was Daniel Lee Moorhouse, 26, 16264 County 6, Park Rapids.
Also taken into custody, pending a felony 5th degree controlled substance crime charge, was Rebecca Denise Stromback, 25, residing at the same address.
This investigation will continue and may result in the arrest of others, said Hubbard County Sheriff Gary Mills.
