Police responded to a burglary report at 10:48 p.m. at 1402 32nd St. S.

The suspects allegedly cut a screen to gain access to the 38-year-old victim's apartment and were there to confront him when he got home, Sgt. Glen Hanson said.

The victim, who recognized the suspects from a previous event, told police they threatened to hurt him if he didn't give them money.

He told police the suspects kept him in a closet for 30 to 60 minutes, duct-taped him to a chair and "beat him up pretty good," Hanson said, adding the victim probably suffered a broken nose but refused medical treatment.

The suspects allegedly stole his brother's 1999 Chevy pickup, as well as other property including a 42-inch television valued at $1,500 and some clothing.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol and Traill County Sheriff's Office later stopped the pickup on Interstate 29 north of Grandin, N.D., and arrested the suspects.

Lucas St. Claire, 25, and Michael Ledoux, 26, were arrested on suspicion of felonious restraint, burglary, auto theft, property theft and assault. Both were being held in the Cass County Jail.

Belcourt is in north-central North Dakota, about 30 miles east of Bottineau.
