Truck driver sentenced in Grand Forks accident that killed two children
GRAND FORKS - The truck driver responsible for the accident that caused the deaths of two children in Grand Forks in December has pleaded guilty to two counts of negligent homicide and one count of aggravated reckless driving, according to court documents.
Steven C. Nelson, 65, Jamestown, N.D., received a sentence of a year in jail with 305 days suspended, which he may serve through electronic home monitoring.
In addition, he was ordered to perform 100 hours of community service in Grand Forks County, with an emphasis on highway safety.
Under state law, negligent is a Class C felony and aggravated reckless driving is a Class A misdemeanor.
