Trial set for PR mom who allegedly bought kids booze
A Dec. 27 trial date has been set in the case of a Park Rapids mother who allegedly bought her underage son and friends alcohol last spring.
Tracy Marie Teigen, 45, faces two counts of Contributing to Status as Juvenile Offender, two counts of Persons Under 21; Illegal Acts, Purchasing, and one count of violating the county's social host ordinance.
The first four charges each carry a maximum of 1 year and/or a $3,000 fine upon conviction. The social host violation is punishable by a maximum of 90 days and/or a $1,000 upon conviction.
Teigen is alleged in the complaint to have purchased a bottle of vodka for her 16-year-old son and his two 14-year-old friends to consume at a bonfire May 13.
The incident came to authorities' attention when Teigen later reported her vehicle had been stolen by the trio. When the three returned to the Teigen home they were all cited for minors consuming alcohol and Teigen's son was cited for operating a vehicle under the influence.
Upon interviewing the youths, the Hubbard County deputy who took the call learned the mother had purchased the alcohol, according to the complaint.
She was subsequently arrested.
A pretrial hearing is set for Dec. 19 in Hubbard County District Court.
