Tree Party to perform at Good Life Café

Email

Tree Party, a Minneapolis Country band, will be playing at 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5 at The Good Life Café.

Two founding members of the band are Park Rapids natives - Andy Carroll (2000 graduate) and Travis Bolton (2001 graduate).

Tree Party draws from artists like Hank Williams and Roy Orbison to create a sound unique by today's standards, yet reminiscent of classic country.

At their shows you can expect to hear mandolin, accordion, upright bass, fiddle, four-part harmonies and, of course, a little bit of yodeling.

But their use of rock n' roll guitar sounds, western rhythms and theatrical storylines sets this band apart from country and Rockabilly legends.

The band unveiled their self-titled album in April with a release show at Minneapolis' 331 Club.

Tree Party is also touring with and providing the soundtrack for the physical theatrical production, "The 7-Shot Symphony," which ran in Minneapolis last March and is currently onstage in Chicago.

Visit Tree Party's YouTube channel to watch videos of their performances or www.treepartymusic.com to hear songs from their new album.

Carroll lives in Robbinsdale with his wife Natalie and dog Gunther.

He has been a working musician in the Twin Cities since 2003.  In addition to playing in Tree Party, he is also a member of another country band - Calamity and the Owl.  He is currently playing bass in Jesus Christ Super Star at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre.

This fall, he will be playing in Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Lab Theatre in downtown Minneapolis - starring Don Shelby (WCCO news reporter) and Paris Bennet (American Idol).

Carroll was in Tokyo, Japan during the tsunami while on tour with Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat.

Bolton currently lives in St. Paul.  He graduated from Park Rapids in 2001 and went on to get a degree in fisheries and wildlife at the University of Minnesota.

He now works as a freelance carpenter and musician in the metro area.  He has been playing original music in the Twin Cities since 2005.  His song writing and guitar playing can be heard on the Travis and Jonny album, "From Here to There," and Tree Party's recently released debut album.
