Township elections will be Tuesday

A majority of townships in Hubbard and eastern Becker counties have decided their elections will coincide with the General Election in November, but some will have elections Tuesday, March 9.

Townships will still have their annual meetings March 9 when the town business is discussed and residents set the preliminary property tax levy.

Those with elections Tuesday are listed below. Terms are supervisor for three years; treasurer for two years; and clerk for two years; unless stated otherwise.

Crow Wing

Cyril Kamrowski has filed for a three-year supervisor position, John Siebolds has filed for a two-year supervisor position and incumbent Gerald Forsberg filed for the clerk position. Polls will be open at the town hall from 4 to 8 p.m. with the annual meeting at 8:15.

Fern

Pat Lessman is up for re-election as supervisor and no one is running against him and Paul Stull is running for re-election as clerk with no opponents. Fern Township's polling hours are 2-8 pm at the town hall with the Board of Canvass meeting at 8 pm and the Annual Meeting following at approximately 8:15 pm.

Polls will be open at the town hall from 2 to 8 p.m. followed by canvassing of the votes and then the annual meeting.

Hart Lake

Polls will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. at the town hall. The annual meeting will convene following the election at approximately 8:15 p.m.

Helga

Three supervisors, one clerk and three planning and zoning members are up for election.

Polls will be open at the Helga Township Community Center from 5 to 8 p.m. with the annual meeting to follow at 8:15.

Lake Hattie

Bruce Malterud, incumbent, is running for a supervisor position and Elizabeth C. Parthun, incumbent, is running for the clerk position.

Polls will be open from 2 to 8 p.m. with the annual meeting following the election canvass.

Straight River

John Hockett is running for a supervisor position and Kathy Dennis is running for treasurer.

Polls will be open from 2 to 8 p.m. with the annual meeting to follow.

Todd

DeLoris B. Adrian is running for a three-year supervisor position. Mildred H. Lovin is running for the clerk position.

Polls will be open from 2 to 8 p.m. in the basement of the courthouse in Park Rapids with the annual township meeting convening after the polls close.

Carsonville

The election will be pretty uneventful with a blank ballot, said clerk Helen Drewes. Her position is up for election along with a supervisor position. Although she didn't file, Drewes said she will continue working as clerk if no one else steps forward.

Polls will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. at the town hall with the annual meeting convening at 8:15.

Osage

A three-year supervisor position and the clerk position are up for election.

Polls will be open from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Osage Community Center. The annual meeting will follow at 8:15.

Two Inlets

Thomas Wagner and Glen Walters have filed for one three-year supervisor position. Incumbent Adeline Retz is up for election for the clerk position.

Polls will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. with the annual meeting convening at 8:15.
