Tigers rout Hornets in title game
Impressive second halves led Nevis to the title at the 9th annual Park Rapids Holiday Boys Basketball Tournament last week.
The Tigers used a 27-6 run at the start of the second half to defeat Sauk Centre 54-41 in last Tuesday's semifinals and followed with a 21-4 run at the start of the second half to spark a 77-44 win over Frazee in last Wednesday's championship game.
The two wins lifted Nevis to 6-0 on the season entering Monday night's game at Menahga. The Tigers travel to Royalton Friday night.

A 3-pointer by Hunter Schroeder gave Nevis a 7-2 lead to start the game before Sauk Centre went on an 11-0 run to claim a 13-7 lead with 8:20 to play in the first half. A jumper by Logan Gooch and three layups by Chase kept Nevis within 21-16 at the intermission.

"In the first half, we looked like a team that hadn't played a game in 11 days. We shot poorly, forced a lot of quick shots and didn't really have any flow on offense. Our defense kept us in the game," said Nevis head coach Scott Kramer. "The second half was a different story. We started to hit some shots and our defense continued to give them trouble. It was a nice win for us coming off a layoff."
