Three-vehicle crash send one to PR hospital, snarls traffic at major intersection
A three-vehicle crash at Park Rapids' major inter-section sent one to the hospital and caused a major traffic snarl.
The crash, around 1 p.m. at the intersection of Highways 34 and 71, was apparently caused when a mini-van driven by an elderly man rear-ended a sedan so hard, the second car spun and struck a third one.
"I'm OK but it's hot out here," the driver of the second car said.
"She just tapped me a little bit as she spun around," the third driver said.
The male driver was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph's Area Health Services with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Numerous Park Rapids police officers and Hubbard County Sheriff's deputies responded, mostly to control traffic around the scene.
It is the second crash this summer at a major intersection in Park Rapids that caused traffic jams.
On July 3 a Walmart semi collided with a family in a van at the intersection of Highway 34 and Hub-bard County Road 6, causing a major traffic headache.
