Panthers defeat Lakers

A pair of three-run innings and a four-run sixth inning led the Panthers past Detroit Lakes.

The Lakers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second before the Panthers tied the game in the bottom of the inning. A two-out single by Morgan Kelly, two errors, and a two-run single by Carlson knotted the game at 3-3.

Detroit Lakes regained a 4-3 lead in the third before Kelly's two-run single gave the Panthers a 5-4 edge in the bottom of that frame.

The Lakers claimed a 7-5 lead in the fourth before the Panthers responded again in the bottom of that inning. Danielle Dent's two-run single and Brittany Gartner's RBI single gave Park Rapids an 8-7 edge.

Warne took over on the mound and retired all nine batters she faced, including four by strikeouts, to earn the save.

Two errors, a hit batter, a sacrifice fly by Warne, and a two-run double by Carlson led to the Panthers' final four runs in the sixth.

Kelly went 2 for 3 with two runs and two RBI, Dent drove in two runs and Anna Grimes scored three runs running for Dent as the Panthers finished with 11 hits. Cady Clinton allowed four earned runs on nine hits over the first four innings for the win.

Prowlers rally by Panthers

The Panthers jumped out to an early lead before Thief River Falls scored five runs in back-to-back innings to rally for the win.

Singles by Dent and Leeza Tostenson set up a two-run single by Kelly, an RBI single by Warne and an RBI double by Jenny Palm as the Panthers claimed a 5-0 lead in the first.

A two-out double by Dent and an RBI triple by Tostenson pushed the lead to 6-1 in the second.

In the fourth, a single by Maria Goetz and a two-run double by Tostenson made it 8-1.

TRF took advantage of three errors to score five times in the fourth and opened the fifth with four straight hits off Warne to score five more times to claim a 10-8 lead. Four more hits led to three more runs in the sixth for a 13-8 advantage.

Warne's RBI single completed the scoring in the seventh.

Tostenson went 4 for 4 with three RBI, Goetz went 2 for 4 with two runs, Dent went 2 for 4 and Warne went 2 for 3 with two RBI to lead Park Rapids' 13-hit attack. Warne took the loss by allowing four earned runs to open the fifth while Clinton gave up 14 hits and three earned runs in six innings.

Hornets sting Panthers

Three hits and a two-out error in the first inning helped Frazee eliminate the Panthers.

After giving the Hornets a 4-0 lead, the Panthers scored in the second on singles by Tostenson and Warne and a grounder by Kelly.

Park Rapids cut the deficit to 4-2 in the fourth on a single by Dent and an RBI double by Warne.

Frazee scored once in the fourth and twice in the sixth for a 7-2 lead.

The Panthers mounted a rally in the seventh on singles by Gartner, Carlson and Goetz. An error allowed one run to score before Stephanie Montoya ended the rally to finish off a complete-game effort.
