Teams sought for Amazing Chase
Registrations are coming in from businesses and families for Kinship's first (with plans to become annual) Amazing Chase to take place from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25.
Setting off from Heartland Park with a shotgun start, four- to six-member teams (with at least two members 16 and older) will head out to 10 (currently top secret) sites where the owners/groups will administer a challenge they've concocted. Example: A bowler must make three strikes at the bowling alley within the allotted time.
The challenges do not require all contestants to compete. Each event will last 5 to 15 minutes. Prizes will be based on points earned for fastest and most successful.
All the challenges will be within Park Rapids city limits with sufficient parking available.
The winning team will be $500 richer at day's end. And a second $500 random team drawing will take place.
Up to 20 teams are being sought for the event, with a goal of $5,000 raised for Kinship.
Rules of the game: Teams must raise $250 for Kinship. Each additional $50 raised throws the team name into the hat for the second drawing. (So the more money raised, the better the chances.)
The race will begin and end at Heartland Park, when all teams will compete together in a final round.
A Rotary-sponsored picnic will be held at the conclusion of the Amazing Chase in Heartland Park. There will be drawings for the Northwoods Bank-sponsored playhouse, a carved bear, a $200 T&M gas card and 100 Evergreen Gift and Fun Park tickets at 5:30 p.m. at Heartland Park. Additional prizes are being sought.
Each competing individual receives a swanky T-shirt - and bragging rights.
Registration forms are available at the Kinship office, kinshipparkrapids.org and through Kinship volunteers.
Amazing Chase sponsors include Citizens National Bank, St. Joseph's Area Health Services, Brookside Resort, Minnesota Power, Lori Lea Lanes, Hubbard County Law Enforcement, Park Theatre, J & B Foods, Park Ace Hardware, NorthStar Orthodontics, Coborn's, Calvary Lutheran Youth, Park Rapids Fire Department and Delaney's Sports Center.
Co-chairs for the event are Bill Simpson and Jason McCollum.
