R.D. Offutt's trucks are out and about, hauling this year's crop of spuds to the plant. Mother Nature's cold temps in May followed by July's heatwave have lowered the anticipated yield by about 13 percent, according to RDO regional farm manager Wayne Warmbold. Average yield is 460 bags per acre; this year's anticipated yield is 400. Weather cooperating, the harvest is expected to be completed by Oct. 5. (Jean Ruzicka / Enterprise)
