His starting date will be sometime between Aug. 17-27, current superintendent Glenn Chiodo reported. He's been in contact with Bagstad on the transition, sending information on school issues. Bagstad's last "official day" in Renville is Aug. 17. Chiodo's last day has not yet been determined.

"I'll be here to answer questions as they pop up," Chiodo said.

"I've heard nothing but positives," Chiodo said of the superintendent candidate interview process that included board, staff and community members. "People are enthused on how it worked. It speaks volumes about the staff and community," he said, noting the process holds some complexities regarding questions that may be posed.

"If you stay the course, good things come of it," Chiodo said.

In other action, the board:

n Approved the Century School handbook changes, now a combination of elementary and middle school.
