Substation is operational
Itasca-Mantrap's Potato Lake substation was energized Dec. 29 at the site 9.5 miles north of Park Rapids on Highway 71. The substation will improve electric service reliability and power quality to cooperative members living north of Park Rapids along Highway 71 and Hubbard County Road 40, near Portage, Potato, Eagle, Island and the Little Mantrap Lake areas. This 7,500 kVA substation was built to meet increased electrical demands due to load growth. It will reduce equipment overload on the Mantrap substation and improve load capacity and reliability.
