Jon Melgaard broke the pool diving record in leading the Detroit Lakes boys swimming and diving team to a 106-80 victory over Park Rapids Tuesday night at the Area High School pool.

Melgaard's 309.60 points broke the pool record of 246.25 points set by Park Rapids' Cody Olander in 1996 and led the Lakers to a 1-2-3 sweep in that event. Detroit Lakes claimed a 47-31 lead after diving and went on to win this Mid-State Conference dual meet.
