Storm stops Park Rapids' victory streak
Sara Rajewsky's two goals and assist late in the second period helped Morris/Benson snap a three-game winning streak by the Park Rapids-Menahga-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley girls hockey team Tuesday night.
Sam Falk completed her hat trick with 7:00 remaining to seal the Storm's 6-4 win at the Ted O. Johnson Ice Arena.
The Panthers held the lead on three different occasions before Morris/Benson scored three unanswered goals in the final 8:36 of the second period for the win.
Leeza Tostenson's unassisted tally gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead at the 13:15 mark of the opening period.
After the Storm tied the game, Hannah Williams assisted on a goal by Jessica Gapinski to give the Panthers a 2-1 lead with 16:13 to play in the second period.
Brittany Floyd set up Tostenson for her second goal of the game with 12:26 to play in the second period as the Panthers claimed a 3-2 lead.
But Rajewsky scored twice and set up Falk as the Storm carried a 5-3 lead into the final period.
Tostenson assisted on a power-play goal by Allie Bade as the Panthers closed the deficit to 5-4 with 12:30 to play. But Falk scored her third goal of the game with 7:00 remaining to seal the win.
Goalie Bailey Moore made 29 saves for the Panthers, who fell to 4-8-2 on the season. Brooke Falk finished with 28 saves for the Storm, who improved to 10-2.
