St. Urho will be celebrated next weekend in Menahga.

St. Urho, the fellow known for driving grasshoppers out of Finland, will be remembered in Menahga with a celebration Friday and Saturday, March 12 and 13. The event begins with the queen's coronation at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the school gym. A St. Urho pancake breakfast will be served at the senior center from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday with a co-ed volleyball tourney beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the high school gym. At noon, the Nytes of St. Urho will undergo the changing of the guard (underwear, actually) at the statue. This will be followed by the parade at 12:30 p.m., a barstool race at the beach and a kame of kolf on da lake. Last year's royalty included Lori Elmore of Menahga, Leo Tomperi of Crystal and prince Levi Carlson of St. Cloud.
