Park Rapids streets were flooded earlier this week but not because of rain. Above, Dean Christofferson, city maintenance employee, opens a hydrant near Park Rapids Area High School Monday afternoon. Hydrant flushing is done each spring to clean out pipe accumulation that has built up over the year. There are nearly 500 hydrants in the city. The flushing is expected to be completed by the end of the week. (Anna Erickson / Enterprise)
