A late winter storm has roared into the region. Travel advisories have been issued for much of the area as snow and winds make travel difficult, and nearly impossible in some open areas.

Park Rapids officials have called off school early. Students will be out by 10 a.m. this morning.

Menahga schools closed Tuesday, along with Nevis, which earlier was two hours late.

National Weather Service meteorologist Tom Grafenauer said Park Rapids will get 10-14 inches of snow, which is a slight revision upward from yesterday.

"It looks like this heavy snow, one to two inches per hour, will last through late this afternoon," he said. "Then you'll get lighter snow through Wednesday."

Travel advisories were out for both Becker County, Hubbard County and most of the counties in the central part of the state advising no travel.
